The Painted Gypsy (aka the Coolest Women-Only Hair Salon) Comes to Mount Kisco

I can’t believe that it’s been four years since we moved to Westchester! I love searching and finding new things to do with the kids as well as places for myself. While I have discovered so many cool things, I have yet to find a hair salon…until now. Mount Kisco is going through a flux as new businesses are opening so I was thrilled see that The Painted Gypsy.was opening up, which was conveniently located on East Main Street.

During a recent visit, I had the chance to learn more about its owner, Andrea Moretti, who actually started her salon out of her home. With a steady client base and a vision, she opened her brick-and-mortar outpost, The Painted Gypsy that’s an ode to femininity and womanhood, and course great hair.

Upon entry, you’ll fun pink walls and a super inviting with fun couches and the most comfortable hair washing chairs. After assessing my hair, Andrea decided to tone down some of my lighter highlights, opting for warmer tones that were closer to my natural color. I was all about that!

After she whipped up the color, we chatted a bit about everything from family to hair. It was super laid-back and they also had snacks (popcorn!) and coffee that I enjoyed as my color processed. Each chair also had charging stations, which I also loved as a way to charge my phone and do some work as I waited.

After the reveal of my color, she blow-dried my hair with a slight flip that was super simple but fun. It felt like me, with a few enhancements.

A super easy, fun and personable process, I loved how knowledgable she was who instantly knew what color, blow-out style and products to use on my hair.

Interview with The Painted Gypsy

How did the idea for The Painted Gypsy come about?
The Painted Gypsy was born in my house after years of being behind the chair in salons. I had always had a vision of making an experience for my clients more then just the normal hair appointment. I enjoyed getting to know my clients on such a different level then was ever possible in a salon environment and the cherry on top was that I also made them feel amazing after the reveal of a color or haircut service.
